Jim Haltom is a partner with Haltom & Doan, practicing throughout the Southwest. His primary areas of litigation practice are products liability, complex commercial and business, class action, catastrophic personal injury, and pharmaceutical. Jim has also practiced in federal courts throughout East Texas as an advocate for numerous clients in intellectual property matters, including Markman hearings. He has represented clients in the telecommunication, medical devices, breast implant, drug, product liability cases for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors and cases involving interference with business relations. Over the years he has also represented the railroad and trucking industries.

Licensed to practice in Texas and Arkansas, he has tried or argued over 300 cases in state and federal courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. In addition to his trial court admissions, Jim is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.

Jim has been named, for the sixth consecutive year, as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a member of the Trial Attorneys of America, is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Northeast Texas Bar Association, the Southwest Arkansas Bar Association, the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association, the Bar Association for the Fifth Federal Circuit and the Texarkana Bar Association, Jim is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel, and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. Along with his extensive trial and appellate experience, Jim has served for years as a litigant-selected and court-appointed mediator in state and federal courts.

Jim graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1958 receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. He received his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 1961.
