Josh Thane is a partner at haltom & doan. In just over 10 years of practice, Josh has handled 100s of cases throughout state and federal courts in Arkansas and Texas. During his time with haltom & doan, Josh has handled litigation at all stages, including taking and defending depositions, drafting pre-trial and post-trial briefings, handling pre-trial and post-trial hearings, picking the jury, and examining and cross-examining key fact and expert witnesses. Most recently, in January 2018, Josh served as co-lead counsel in a successful jury trial for a plaintiff in a breach of contract case. Just two months earlier, Josh and a trial team from haltom & doan helped garner a heralded defense win for Hewlett Packard Enterprise in a patent infringement case in the Eastern District Texas. The jury in Network-1 v. Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company returned a complete defense verdict finding all asserted claims of Network-1’s Remote Power Patent (U.S. Patent No. 6,218,930) invalid and not infringed.
Josh’s trial victories include headline worthy verdicts for both plaintiffs and defendants, including:
- Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. v. Mountain Valley Spring Company, LLC, Western District of Arkansas;
- Bright Response, LLC v. Yahoo!, Inc., Eastern District of Texas;
- Eolas Technologies, Inc. v. Yahoo!, Inc. and Amazon.com, Inc., Eastern District of Texas;
- Walker Chapel C.M.E Church v. Linda Hughey, et al., Circuit Court of Miller County, Arkansas;
- Network-1 Technologies, Inc. v. Hewlett-Packard Company & Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, Eastern District of Texas; and
- CEATS, Inc. v. TicketNetwork, Inc. and Ticket Software LLC, Eastern District of Texas.
Outside of trial, Josh has also successfully litigated and resolved cases involving patent infringement, antitrust, breach of contract, fraud, business partnership disputes, and personal injury. His broad range of experience helps him counsel clients to achieve their objectives, whether through early resolution or trial.
Every year since 2012, Josh has been recognized by his peers and selected to the Texas Rising Stars list by Thomson Reuters. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and currently serves as the Nominating Fellow for District 1 of the Foundation.
